Kagura and the Infant cause chaos for a priest and his village when they successfully release the demon horse, Entei, who moves so swiftly that InuYasha cannot harm him. Tsukiyomi returns and possesses Kagome to reason with her lover and give Inuyasha and Kagome a chance to destroy the demonic halberd once and for all. With the complete Naginata of Kenkon in his possession, Hoshiyomi is virtually unstoppable. "Eien no Omoi Kenkon no Naginata" (永遠の思い 乾坤の薙刀) As Inuyasha and his friends come to Kagome's rescue, the bitter Hoshiyomi reveals his own tragic relations with a human priestess named Tsukiyomi. Hoshiyomi uses Kagome as a hostage to acquire the Ken blade, the halberd belonging to Akitoki, in order to unite it with its partner, the Kon blade. Kagome and Akitoki are separated from Inuyasha and everyone else, who are preoccupied with fighting four demonic ninjas, who intended to steal Akitoki's halberd for their master, Hoshiyomi. " Mountain of Demons: Survival of the Duo" While Kagome tries to deal with her unsettling feelings, Hōjō's ancestor Akitoki approaches Inuyasha for help in sealing a family heirloom: a powerful demonic halberd. Hōjō shows Kagome an interesting feature on his family tree: one of his ancestors from the Warring States era has the same name as her. "Gosenzo-sama no Namae wa Kagome" (ご先祖の名はかごめ) Together, they attempt to get rid of an invisible demon.
Haori, the odd old exorcist woman, returns and convinces Inuyasha and his friends to help her in another demon exterminating project. The ending themes were " Come" by Namie Amuro for episodes 136-147, " CHANGE THE WORLD" by V6 for episode 148, " Brand-New World" by V6 for episodes 149-166, and " My Will" by Dream for episode 167. The opening themes for this season were " One Day, One Dream" by Tackey & Tsubasa for episodes 136-153 and " ANGELUS" by Hitomi Shimatani for episodes 154-167.
